Os Future Islands reuniram duas décadas de versões alternativas das suas canções, temas inéditos no formato digital e alguns cortes de fundo de catálogo, no álbum “From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth”. Com edição em Maio de 2026, “Sail” e “Find Love” introduzem-no.

Ao longo dos últimos vinte anos, os Future Islands percorreram um trajecto raro: de promessas emergentes a segredo bem guardado, de favoritos de culto a heróis do género. Ao atingirem este marco notável, recusam o gesto mais óbvio.

Em vez de uma compilação de “best of” em modo de volta triunfal, os Future Islands apresentam From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth — uma colecção imediata e acessível — metade da qual nunca esteve disponível em plataformas de streaming — reunindo versões alternativas de êxitos, raridades e favoritos dos fãs que evidenciam a paleta da banda e acrescentam novas cores ao seu apelo singularmente universal. O álbum será editado a 22 de Maio de 2026 e, hoje, a banda revela duas canções: “Sail” e “Find Love”.

Como o título sugere, este duplo LP traça o percurso do grupo desde origens humildes até horizontes cada vez mais amplos. Vinte canções para vinte anos, quatro membros na banda, quatro lados de vinil. Os Future Islands foram sempre mais do que um momento viral; a sua carreira contém uma profundidade e uma nuance extraordinárias, muitas vezes ofuscadas por picos mais ruidosos. Estas canções revelam uma banda confortável com a subtileza, a elegância e a resistência emocional — e nunca soaram tão intemporais.

As canções foram inicialmente reunidas numa playlist por William Cashion, pilar do baixo dos Future Islands, que também escolheu o título — «Sempre adorei a imagem dessa letra», explica. «O buraco no chão é o quotidiano, mas a fonte é a magia que acontece quando a vida com que sonhaste se torna aquela que realmente vives. É o sonho e a realidade a existirem na mesma divisão». Uma conhecida citação de Tennessee Williams fala deste tipo de duração — «o tempo é a maior distância entre dois lugares». É o tempo que verdadeiramente separa o chão da fonte.

Sim, os Future Islands conseguem impressionar e deslumbrar, mas este lançamento trata de outra coisa — algo mais contido e mais profundo. «Isto é para todos os que carregaram estas canções consigo, desde as primeiras festas em casas até às salas onde tocamos hoje», explica Cashion.
